PX450e – Full-Colour Printer for POS and Hospitals

PX450e prints coupons, tickets, name badges and receipts in just five seconds.

WIESBADEN, GERMANY May 29, 2012 – PX450e Color Printer by leading manufacturer of specialty color printers, Primera Technology, Inc., is developed to meet the requirements of retail point-of-sale and other point-of-issue applications such as hotel receptions or information counters.

PX450e is a compact, full-colour printer and ideal for printing coupons, receipts, tickets, name badges and other types of narrow-format output. Print times are among the fastest of any full-colour POS printer, producing a typical 4” x 2.5” (101 mm x 63.5 mm) coupon in just five seconds.

A built-in guillotine cutter allows forms of any length to be printed, cut and dispensed with clean, finished edges instead of perforations.

“Until now, there were almost no options for full-colour printing of narrow-format output at point-of-sale or point-of-issue,” said Mark D. Strobel, Primera’s vice president of sales and marketing. “PX450e allows our customers to enjoy the benefits of full-colour output at a reasonable price. Its fast print speeds won’t slow down checkout lines, registration desks or admission counters.”

Full-colour printing can add significant impact to printed output. A recent study indicated that consumer redemption rates of coupons printed in color were up to 25% higher than coupons printed in black and white. In addition to retail POS, PX450e is expected to also be used in hospitals, banking, hospitality and more.

PX450e is easy to connect with most of today’s POS systems and computers. A standard USB interface port is provided for use with the included Windows® XP/Vista/7 and Mac® OS 10.2 or higher printer drivers. Supplies include a drop-in paper or label roll and a snap-in tri-color ink cartridge. Paper widths are flexible with a minimum width of 1” (25.4 mm) and a maximum width of 4.25” (108 mm).

PX450e sells for € 1,149 (MSRP) with significant quantity discounts available. The product is available through Primera’s Authorized Distributors in over 179 other countries.

In addition the PX450e can also print patient wristbands. Patient wristbands are a practical solution to identify patients in hospitals, nursing homes, medical or rehabilitation centers. “Patient wristbands are very common in the US. But some countries – like Germany – just realize the potential and advantages of this technology,” said Andreas Hoffmann, managing director of operations at Primera Europe. “It’s actually a very discrete, cost-effective and safe method to capture needed patient data easily.” By wearing a wristband from admission to discharge the risk of misidentification, wrong treatment and false medication is reduced to a minimum.

In practice, the relevant patient information is printed on wristbands directly out of the hospital information system (HIS). Primera doesn’t expect any problems in regards of acceptance. “On one hand wristbands are secure and easy to handle, on the other hand wearing wristbands is really comfortable because of the used materials,” explained Andreas Hoffmann.
