Primera's products utilize state-of-the-art technology to save resources and reduce waste

WIESBADEN, GERMANY (November 24, 2010) – Primera Technology strives to be an environmentally responsible provider of state-of-the-art technology. In order to do so, the company created a catalogue of activities for all its Disc Publishers and Label Printers. The plan is to offer customers a more efficient way to use global resources and in the end participate in reducing the waste worldwide. "We try to limit the environmental impact of our products to a minimum. This includes an environmental friendly product design, packaging technologies for a lower material consumption and return programs for re-use and recycling of our products," explained Andreas Hoffmann, managing director of Primera Technology Europe.

All new Primera Disc Publishers and inkjet-based label printers are equipped with separate ink tanks. The user can individually change both, the single ink cartridges as well as the printhead. A built-in software called 'Ink-Cost-Estimator' constantly monitors the supply status. Thus, ink cartridges only need replacement when they have been depleted, saving money on each print. That results in the lowest costs per unit and the best price/performance ratio of disc publishing and label printing systems in the industry. "The software helps to keep a close eye on consumption and raises awareness within companies to responsibly use resources," said Andreas Hoffmann.

Correct recycling supports a sustainable re-use of resources. That's why Primera offers cartridge and toner recycling during the life span of its printers and the collection of Primera products worldwide at no additional charge. "Further to that we try to waste as little paper as possible," added Hoffmann. "Instead of multilingual instruction manuals, which often span hundreds of pages, we include international valid and easy-to-understand quickstart guides." Manuals in various languages are already published on the European company website at dtm-print.eu/europe/manuals.html. In the future, extensive documentations in various languages will be part of each product installation disc that is enclosed in the product box.

It is subsumed under the acronym RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive).

In addition, Primera products are labelled with the WEEE-symbol (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive). The directive dictates the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment separately from other waste and therefore facilitates the recycling of certain materials and substances.
