Primera and NAI Tech Products Announce DICOM All-in-One
Medical Solution
Automatic and Hands-Free Production of Patient- and Backup-DVDs for Medical Imaging Files
First Time Presentation at CeBIT: Hall 1, Stand # D77/1
Wiesbaden, March 12, 2007 — At this year's CeBIT, Primera Technology and NAI Tech Products introduce the first all-in-one
business application, writing true DICOM images from any medical imaging modality — DICOM compatible or not — to CD or DVD fully automatically.
DICOM — short for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine — is a standard for handling, storing, printing and transmitting information in medical imaging and therefore, guarantees interoperability between different medical modalities.
Until now, producing patient CDs or backup DVDs with DICOM imaging content was nearly impossible or just too time-consuming. Therefore, NAI's MDR® Express Software — when integrated in Primera's Disc Publisher XRP (Server Package) — offers everyone an unattended, fully automatically disc production from every modality just by clicking a button. Simultaneously, a DICOM viewer application is installed on each disc allowing easy image viewing and editing on any PC,
explains Bodo Herzog, Sales Manager Europe at NAI Tech Products.
Without any difficulties, Primera's Disc Publisher XRP is connected directly to a medical imaging unit or integrated in an existing DICOM network. This all-in-one
; package, producing up to 100 discs per job, is perfect for radiological and orthopedic practices as well as imaging centers and hospitals, transferring DICOM images directly to optical media in one operating sequence. Besides the guaranteed high image quality — there is no resolution loss — the enormous saving of cost compared with the common medical imaging methods is another advantage of this application. That's the reason why discs can be produced at a fraction the cost of film or DAT tape. This application can be also used for medical imaging of x-ray or ultrasound modalities because of its far higher quality compared to S-VHS.
Furthermore, the Disc Publisher XRP prints hands-free all required information of patient, hospital or clinical practice to disc. That's very important as mix-ups are prevented that way. For that reason, patient CDs with self-adhesive labels possibly won’t be legally accepted anymore in the future,
says Bodo Herzog.
NAI's MDR® Software is part of Primera's Server XR. As a result, we can offer a DICOM plug'n'play all-in-one solution installed and integrated in an active clinical network by an IT administrator within ten minutes,
clarifies Bodo Herzog.
