Simplify your workflow
with Primera's Un- and Rewinders – Part 2

Once again we take a more detailed look at our un- and rewinders. In this edition we present our RW-7 Label Rewinder and UW-7 Label Unwinder.
In our last issue we have explained the different application areas for for unwinding and rewinding. Nevertheless please keep always in mind that as with all our accessories a pre-test is highly recommended to find the right winder for your customers’ needs.

Which label material can be used?
As already mentioned in our last issue the flexibility of the label stock is an important factor for the smooth transport to the rewinder. Here is the overview of our Primera Genuine substrates.

RW-7 Label Rewinder and UW-7 Label Unwinder
Small • Compact • Low Budget Solution

    Additional features are:
  • Modular core adaptor fits 1", 1.5", 2" and 3" core sizes
  • Label Roll Outer Diameter: max. 8" (203.2 mm)
  • Label Roll Weight: max. 5 kg
  • Coloured LED indicator provides rewinder operation status
    • Blue: Outside winding
    • Green: Inside winding
    • Red: Error/Alert
    What is the ideal setup?
  • Position RW-7 in front of the printer and UW-7 behind it.
  • Using RW-7: Place it 50.8 - 76.2 mm away from the front edge of the printer.
  • Using UW-7: The Unwinder should be as close to the printer as possible without causing interference with the dancer arm.
  • Using them with LX500e or LX900e: The printer should be elevated at least 127 mm to ensure that the label stock comes out from the printer as straight as possible.
This allows you an easy access to the printer for maintance or change of cartridges.
Watch now our video to see how to install RW-7 Label Rewinder correctly.

What can be done if it is not winding properly? Check the following:
  • Are the winders parallel and on the same height to the printer?
  • Is there sufficient distance between them?
Then increase or reduce the space and/or the height between the individual devices.

How to use them with LX2000e?
They work perfectly with our LX2000e. Before printing, set the correct mode in the PTStatus of LX2000e:
Using RW-7: Set "Do not present" under "Output Mode"
Using UW-7: Use "external feeding" (Click on the button ⓘ and change the "printer settings″)

What about LX900e?
Of course, you can also use the un- and rewinders together with our LX900e.
See how it works.

Because of the roll feed sensor the LX900e has to be slightly modified to work with an unwinder. Only two small adjustments at the printer have to be done. Our support team is more than happy to explain the details to you.
Using RW-7: Set "Do not Present" under "Output Mode" in the PTStatus of the LX900e.

Important Note: With the LX900e we recommend using labels that are 101,6 mm (4") wide or greater.

Does it work with other printers, too?
Yes, you can use other printers with our winders. Please contact our support team for further instructions.

Inside and Outside

What about the winding direction?
With the adjustment of the winding direction you define whether the label roll will be rewinded with the labels facing the inside or the outside. Depending on the customers’ specifications for the further processing of the labels this has to be set.

In all cases we recommend to carry out a pre-test with the choosen label material and within the actual application area. Therefore it would be advisable to have both winders in your show room. Feel free to contact our sales team to request a demo unit.
